The companies announced this on Wednesday. The Skymaster system then directed the Skynex air defense battery used in the scenario. The integration took place under NATO networking conditions that were realistic, according to the press release, and demonstrated the flexibility as well as the open architecture of the Skymaster system.<\/p>\n<p>By fusing and correlating sensor data within NATO&#8217;s Link-16 network, a joint air picture could be generated. The Hensoldt passive radar demonstrated excellent quality in detecting and tracking air targets. This confirms the high operational added value of modern passive sensing for air defense. Twinvis is a passive radar based on the latest digital technology that can be used in wide-area military airspace surveillance or in civilian air traffic control.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Close and constructive collaboration at Timber Express<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In particular, the ability of Skymaster to fuse active and passive radar sensors as well as electro-optical sensors into a holistic situational picture within the air defense network should be highlighted. This opens up new possibilities for resilient and low-emission air situation detection in line with a modern EMCON (emissions control) strategy, and at the same time improves the Situational Awareness for the protection of high-value infrastructure, critical facilities and mobile troop formations.<\/p>\n<p>The demonstration underscores the future viability of distributed and networked sensor networks and shows how passive sensor technologies can meaningfully extend and complement existing air defense systems. Moreover, passive systems improve the survivability of the networks by lacking their own emissions. The insights gained formed the basis for integration into stationary Skynex systems, mobile Skyranger solutions, and modern Counter-UAS systems such as Sky Spotter.<\/p>\n<p>According to the companies, the success of this test was enabled by the close and constructive collaboration among the German Air Force organizations involved, the exercise management, and the expert teams from Rheinmetall Air Defence and Hensoldt.
