The MITR system provides modular protection for the eyes, nose, and mouth as an alternative to full-face masks. It enables personnel in tactical threat environments to adjust the protection level flexibly during dynamic, fast-moving missions. Crucially, MITR not only protects personnel in the current mission, but also reduces the lifelong exposure to dangerous particles that can lead to long-term health problems.

Thus, the U.S. Special Forces become the latest customer for Avon Protection’s MITR system. The system includes the MITR-M1 half mask as well as the ventilated MITR-PG1 protective eyewear; it also includes the MITR-PF particle filter and the MITR-RF filter (for riot situations) to ensure mission-specific modularity, as well as accessories for integration into helmet and communications systems. It offers modular protection for eyes, nose, and mouth as an alternative to full-face masks and enables users in tactical threat conditions to flexibly adjust the protection level during dynamic, fast-moving operations.

Flexible Combination of MITR-M1, MITR-PG1 and Filters

The NIOSH-certified MITR-M1 half mask offers, in combination with the MITR-PF filter, light and flexible respiratory protection for the nose and mouth. Thanks to its slim, close-fitting, curved profile, unobstructed sight over the weapon sight is preserved; in addition, communication is ensured via voice amplification and projection units. The half mask can be attached directly to the helmet using the MITR-M1 helmet mounting set, allowing it to be worn without removing the helmet.

The MITR-PG1 protective eyewear has been designed for seamless integration with the half mask and provides eye protection against irritants (as used in riots). Thanks to an integrated ventilation system that ensures constant air circulation, the lightweight, anti-fog and tactically black-tinted glasses provide clear sight and readiness even under extremely demanding conditions. The comfortable and lightweight MITR-PG1 is compatible with combat helmets and night vision systems.

Short- and Long-Term Health Protection

The compact MITR-PF particle filter from Avon Protection features a flat design and contains a folded high-efficiency filter element to protect against biological and pharmaceutical hazards. The MITR-RF Compact Riot Filter combines a highly efficient pleated filter with an activated carbon layer, providing additional protection against fumes from riot-control agents. Both filter types meet the NIOSH P100 protection standard and filter more than 99.97% of harmful particles from the air.

With this contract, the United States, following Canada (decision in May 2026), becomes the second FVEY nation to choose the MITR-M1 half mask. Steve Elwell, President of Avon Protection, stated: “This contract is the result of almost four years of close collaboration with end users in developing a solution that meets their mission-specific requirements. That we could win the U.S. Department of Defense as another customer for the MITR system underscores our ongoing commitment to the health and safety of personnel—both in the short term and in the long term.”

For tactical personnel, MITR is not only about protection during the current mission, but also about reducing lifelong exposure to dangerous particles that can lead to long-term health problems. The aim is to ensure that the personnel stay healthy long after the end of their service. This contract is an important step in making this protective technology accessible to a broader user base.”

[1
1181,1179,1178,1180,352
post-1722","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-goggles","tag-mask","tag-mitrm1","tag-mitrpg1","tag-sof","generate-columns","tablet-grid-50","mobile-grid-100","grid-parent","grid-33","resize-featured-image
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
