This Infantry Squad Vehicle Heavy (ISV-H) is intended to transport up to six soldiers or 1.8 tons of cargo and be air-transportable in aircraft of type C-130, C-17, and C-5, as well as as an external load under CH-47 helicopters. Most importantly, it should be able to generate and deliver continuous electrical power outputs of 60 kilowatts of high\u2011voltage direct current, 15 kilowatts of direct current at 28 volts, and 4.8 kilowatts of alternating current at 120 volts, to serve as a mobile power generator.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the Army intends to increase its current ISV fleet from 1,105 to 606 ISV-H units under a three-year contract. ISV-H manufacturer GM Defense has already presented a prototype. In contrast to the largely open M1301, which is based on the chassis of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 pickup truck and transports a nine\u2011person infantry squad, this variant is built on the Silverado 3500 HD and features a closed crew cab with the option to mount protective modules. The hybrid drive also gives it the ability for electric creeping movement or quiet surveillance.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Infantry Squad Vehicle Heavy for Support Tasks<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With this, the ISV-H is intended to fulfill less the role of a troop carrier and more a range of battlefield support tasks. According to GM Defense leadership, these include casualty transport as well as the deployment and defense against drones and loitering munitions. Accordingly, the company demonstrates several configurations with two, four, or six seats, or even as an unmanned vehicle with varying cargo bed sizes. The internal combustion engine used is a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel.<\/p>\n<p>The current empty weight of 2.2 tons for the ISV is also air-transportable as external load under UH-60 helicopters and as internal load in CH-47s. It is intended to enable air-supported operations where troops land beyond enemy defenses and then advance up to 50 miles (80 kilometers) to the objective.
