Daimler Truck Defence erschließt gemeinsam mit der Geschäftseinheit Mercedes-Benz Powertrain ein neues Geschäftsfeld durch den Vertrieb und die lokale Montage von Mercedes-Benz Lkw-Motoren in Polen. Auf der internationalen Verteidigungsmesse MSPO in Kielce unterzeichneten Daimler Truck Defence und die polnische Rüstungsgruppe Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (PGZ) eine entsprechende Absichtserklärung.
As Daimler Truck announced on September 9, the collaboration includes the export of engine components as well as long-term support for assembly, service, overhaul, and technical support. PGZ, Poland’s largest defense-technology manufacturer with around 60 companies, plans to operate a new production line in Kalisz, Poland, starting next year. There, eventually a four-digit number of diesel engines per year will be assembled, to be used across brands in Defence vehicles of the PGZ Group for the Polish armed forces.
Globale Daimler Truck Defence Strategie
“The collaboration with PGZ is an example of the consistent implementation of our global Daimler Truck Defence Strategy,” said Dennis Kinzelmann, CEO Daimler Truck Defence. “For our customers we ensure full access to the global Daimler Truck capabilities in order to offer suitable solutions—from fully integrated military vehicle concepts from the global portfolio to individual components.”
The PGZ Group’s vehicle range spans from armored fighting vehicles such as the Borsuk, to wheeled infantry fighting vehicles like the KTO Rosomak, and artillery systems on wheels and tracks, up to military and logistics vehicles with two to four driven axles.
Mercedes-Benz Lkw-Motoren der mittleren und schweren Baureihen
Im Fokus der Kooperation stehen robuste und effiziente Mercedes-Benz Lkw-Motoren der mittleren und schweren Baureihen mit sieben bis 15 Litern Hubraum und einer Leistung von 240 kW bis 460 kW, die auch in zivilen Sonderfahrzeugen sowie beim Mercedes-Benz Unimog und Zetros zum Einsatz kommen. Der Hochlauf der Fertigung erfolgt schrittweise:

Montage- und Kompetenzzentrum
Zu Beginn werden weitgehend vormontierte Motoren geliefert, bevor auf vollständige CKD-Kits (Completely Knocked Down) mit über 700 Einzelteilen umgestellt wird, was den lokalen Wertschöpfungsanteil in Polen kontinuierlich erhöht. Ergänzend wollen die Partner ein lokales Kompetenzzentrum für Wartung, Reparatur, Überholung und Modernisierung aufbauen. Daimler Truck unterstützt PGZ dabei umfassend mit technischer Beratung, Schulungen und der Implementierung von Qualitäts-, Fertigungs- und Prüfstandprozessen.
Initially, largely pre-assembled engines will be delivered, before switching to complete CKD kits (Completely Knocked Down) with over 700 individual parts, which will continuously increase the local value-added share in Poland. In addition, the partners want to establish a local competence center for maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modernization. Daimler Truck will comprehensively support PGZ with technical consulting, training, and the implementation of quality, manufacturing, and testing processes.
Durch diese strategische Partnerschaft bringt Daimler Truck seine globale Expertise aus der Großserie im zivilen Motorenbau in den Defence-Sektor ein. Gleichzeitig stärkt die Allianz die industrielle Kooperation zwischen Deutschland und Polen sowie die nationale Souveränität und Modernisierung der polnischen Streitkräfte.
Through this strategic partnership, Daimler Truck brings its global expertise from large-scale civilian engine production into the Defence sector. At the same time, the alliance strengthens industrial cooperation between Germany and Poland as well as the national sovereignty and modernization of the Polish armed forces.
