SOF Week: DNS Alpha Unveils New HALO Cold-Weather Protection Suit

Die Development Never Stops (DNS) Alpha EMEA GmbH from Munich is renowned for innovative deployment apparel. In developing technical clothing systems, DNS Alpha designs for function, precision, and performance in use under extreme conditions. On the occasion of SOF Week 2026 in Tampa, Florida, DNS Alpha now showcased a new High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) cold protection suit.

According to the provider, this is a near-series prototype, with only minor adjustments needed depending on customer requirements. The outer shell uses a Gore-Tex Stretch material with a synthetic insulation. The suit is complemented by two corresponding booties.

DNS Alpha integrates numerous zippers for ventilation

The HALO suit features two full-length zippers on the front, one on each side, running from the neck to the feet. This enables a complete opening. They also include a quick-release at the neck end, allowing the zipper to be opened quickly in emergencies by other means without pulling it all the way up.

Additionally, the suit has two large ventilation openings at the arms, also adjustable via zippers. The two large zippers and the ventilation openings are mainly needed on the ground and in the aircraft to prevent heat buildup during ascent.
