On August 3 and 4, 2026, a high-ranking Army delegation visited the headquarters of the software provider Systematic in Aarhus, Denmark. It was led by Lieutenant General Heico Hübner, Deputy Inspector of the Army and Commander of the Military Basic Organization. The delegation was welcomed by CEO Nikolaj Bramsen and the managing director of Systematic GmbH, Sven Trusch. In addition to gaining insight into Systematic’s culture, values and way of working, the future C4ISR requirements of the Army in the context of Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) were the focus of the two days.
Systematic presented the SitaWare Suite in its full solution approach: from the architecture across all levels of command to interoperability with NATO and coalition partners. Selected roadmap topics for 2026 and 2027 were demonstrated with practical examples, including tactical airspace coordination, a new briefing tool, and collaborative targeting. A particular highlight was the sensor-to-shooter linkage between drone control software and the SitaWare Joint Fires module. It also addressed the AI-agent-assisted planning process in SitaWare as well as the AI-assisted decision advantage through SitaWare Insight.
View of the Army on Digitalization for Multi-Domain Operations
In turn, Lieutenant General Hübner outlined the Army’s view on digitalization for MDO. He described the five areas of action to increase readiness by 2029, the requirements for communications networks, survivability and C2 interoperability on an increasingly transparent battlefield, as well as the interaction of digital, data- and AI-backbone as the technical foundation of digital sovereignty. The concluding discussion on Agentic AI drew the greatest interest. Lieutenant General Hübner pointed to its potential to significantly speed up planning and command processes.
He also stressed that continuous exchange between the troops and product management for the further development of the BMS software is indispensable: innovations must be identified early, tested in practice, and immediately fed back into development. Systematic is and remains a central partner of the Army in this regard. “I am convinced that Agentic AI will not only assist us in military planning, but must also contribute to leading ongoing operations to ensure decision-making and leadership superiority on a fully ‘transparent’ battlefield at all times,” said Hübner.
