Rheinmetall Delivers Artillery Ammunition to Ukraine Again

Rheinmetall supplies more artillery ammunition to Ukraine. According to its own statement released today, a NATO member state has contracted the company to supply several thousand 155-mm projectiles and propellant charges. The order value, recorded in the second quarter of 2026, is in the mid double-digit million-euro range. Production has already begun, and the contract is to be completed before April 2027.

The ER02A1 B/B-type projectiles are manufactured by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain, according to the press release. The modular propellants of type DM72 come from Nitrochemie. Projectiles and propellants are already in service with several NATO member states. They can be fired from a wide range of 155-mm artillery systems and offer long range and high effectiveness.

Second contract for Rheinmetall in quick succession

Only at the end of June did Rheinmetall issue a nearly identical statement regarding the delivery of a low five-figure number of 155-mm shells and related propellants, apparently commissioned by Ukraine itself. Here too, it was ammunition of type ER02A1 B/B from Expal production, with production already underway and expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.

Rheinmetall continues to invest heavily, according to the information, in expanding the capacity of existing facilities and in building new production sites, in order to meet the growing demand for modern 155-mm shells and propellants. The technology group, based in Düsseldorf, has been expanding its production capacity since 2022 and aims to produce around 1.5 million 155-mm artillery shells per year by 2030.
