Rheinmetall Delivers Four Skynex Systems to International Customers

Rheinmetall has secured an international large-scale order for its Skynex air defense system, thereby expanding its customer base. The order, recorded in the second quarter of 2026, is, according to the company, the first order from a new international customer valued at several hundred million euros. The total duration of the contract covers the delivery of four complete Skynex systems within 39 months.

The delivery of the first battery is expected 21 months after contract signing. The remaining batteries will follow sequentially, with each delivery six months after the completion of the previous one. The contract includes trucks, ammunition and a comprehensive Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) package. The ILS package ensures readiness through specialized training, spare parts, special tools and the provision of consumables.

Skynex counters a wide range of modern threats

Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A. serves as the main contractor for this project. Several important subsidiaries within the Rheinmetall Group are actively involved in delivering the systems, including Rheinmetall Air Defence, Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles and Rheinmetall Waffe Munition (Switzerland).

The Skynex air defense system is a gun-based solution designed for close-range defense. It is capable of countering a wide range of modern threats, including the interception of unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) as well as defense against rockets, artillery and mortars (C-RAM). According to Rheinmetall, this success underscores the company’s leading role in next-generation close- and near-range air defense technology.
