U.S. Army Orders DAGIR V1 Weapon Laser from B.E. Meyers

The U.S. American specialist B. E. Meyers & Co. Inc. has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army’s PM Soldier Lethality (PM SL) division—led by the “Capability Program Executive – Ground Soldier Systems” (CPE-G)—for 8,936 DAGIR-V1 systems. The manufacturer announced this on June 30, 2026. This fulfills the U.S. Army’s specific requirements under the “M7 Surrogate Fire Control Program.” Deliveries will occur in Fiscal Year 2027 through the Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA) Tailored Logistics Support (TLS) program.

The DAGIR series, consisting of laser aiming and illumination systems for infrared and visible ranges, is based on advanced VCSEL technology and is designed for use on a variety of platforms. The product family of multi-platform laser systems represents the latest generation of photonic solutions from B. E. Meyers & Co. for illumination and target acquisition in the near-infrared range (NIR) on weapon systems. The U.S. Army’s decision, according to the supplier, was made after extensive testing, evaluations, and feedback from soldiers.

DAGIR has already been fielded by USSOCOM

The heart of the DAGIR-V1 is the MINIRVA diode system, based on advanced VCSEL technology (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) and, according to the manufacturer, provides exceptional beam precision as well as clarity. This optical unit ensures a sharper and more precise illumination, thereby improving target identification, situational awareness, and threat assessment across various deployment scenarios. The DAGIR laser family thus represents a significant advancement in technology for multifunctional target and illumination systems.

It combines a near-infrared emitter with both NIR and visible aiming beams in a compact, rugged system. The U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) had previously chosen the DAGIR-V1 under the SAL-UHP program, with the SOCOM-specific variant designated LA-30. The DAGIR-V2, which includes an additional trigger to override the visible laser, was also introduced by USSOCOM under the “Miniature Aiming Laser – Ultra High Power” (MAL-UHP) program.
