The Polish company Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. (HSW) has awarded three contracts with a total gross value of more than 150 million euros for the delivery of several hundred chassis. This was announced by the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), whose companies will undertake the manufacturing. Based on the license rights granted, HSW will use these chassis for the production of complete multifunctional tactical vehicles of the Waran 4×4 and Heron 6×6 types. The Polish defense procurement agency has ordered the vehicles under contracts financed through the EU SAFE program.
Two of the contracts concern the delivery of 4×4 chassis to HSW by CSG companies. On these, HSW will produce multifunctional tactical vehicles of the Waran 4×4 type in various configurations, including a command vehicle for the rocket and artillery troops (WRiA). The third contract concerns the delivery of 6×6 chassis for armored vehicles of the Heron 6×6 type. Among them is a command vehicle configuration for WRiA units, equipped with multiple rocket launcher systems (Homar-A and Homar-K).
Waran 4×4 is already in Polish service
The total gross value of the chassis orders for land-based platforms, including assembly sets, is reported by CSG to exceed 150 million euros. Deliveries are to be completed by the end of 2029. “The signing of these contracts marks the continuation and expansion of the strategic cooperation between the CSG Group and the Polish defense industry,” said Wojciech Grzonka, chairman of CSG Polska and vice president of sales at CSG.
This cooperation makes an important contribution to strengthening the defense capability of the land forces and enables the timely delivery of high-quality products,” Grzonka continued. “Our technological collaboration with Huta Stalowa Wola already has a fairly long history, and CSG is ready to expand it further, including through the implementation of new business models.”
The Waran 4×4 and Heron 6×6 multifunctional vehicles produced by HSW are based on the Patriot II and Tadeas platforms offered by the CSG Group. Through industrial cooperation as well as the transfer of technology and know-how from CSG companies, these vehicles are already in serial production at HSW. The Polish armed forces have to date received several dozen Waran-4×4 vehicles in various configurations, including as carrier platforms for components of the unmanned reconnaissance and weapons system Gladius (BSP-U).
