ARX Robotics is markedly expanding the fleet deployed in Ukraine in response to the sharply rising demand for unmanned ground vehicles for front-line logistics and support missions. As part of a contract with the Ukrainian armed forces, the defense technology company is increasing the number of deployed Gereon systems to five times the original starting stock.
As the Oberdinger-based provider of unmanned ground vehicles stated on Wednesday, the procurement order takes place against the backdrop of a rapid and massive scaling of unmanned ground vehicles by Ukraine. Government agencies plan to procure 25,000 new systems in the first half of the year alone to systematically convert frontline logistics to unmanned solutions.
UGVs for All Mission-Critical Areas
As part of the contract, ARX Robotics will deliver several hundred additional unmanned ground vehicles of the Gereon type to the Ukrainian armed forces, further expanding its role in supporting frontline forces with rapidly deployable unmanned systems, according to the company. With hundreds of vehicles already deployed or commissioned, it is currently the largest Western supplier of UGVs in Ukraine.
The delivered UGVs would be deployed primarily in mission-critical areas — including logistics, casualty transport, resupply, and operations in highly dangerous environments that would otherwise pose an increased risk to soldiers. Additional payloads and deployment configurations could be integrated later on, depending on operational requirements and in close coordination with the armed forces.
ARX Robotics Expands Industrial Presence in Ukraine
As part of the fleet expansion, ARX Robotics, in collaboration with local suppliers, is further expanding its industrial presence in Ukraine, according to the company. It is already pushing ahead with the expansion of its production capacity at several sites to meet rising demand and urgent deployment requirements — supported by accelerated delivery processes, deeper industrial collaboration, and a resilient supply chain.
In addition, ARX Robotics will strengthen its operational presence in Ukraine and expand training and technical support capabilities for the deployed forces to ensure readiness, operation and maintenance of the systems. The ongoing deployment enables the company to continually develop its systems under real-world conditions and to advance the next generation of unmanned ground vehicles.
The Gereon series is ARX Robotics’ mid-sized unmanned ground vehicle. The modular architecture enables flexible adaptation and seamless switching between different configurations for a broad range of applications. By combining scalable hardware platforms with powerful autonomy software, armed forces can rapidly deploy unmanned systems and continually adapt to evolving mission requirements.
