Chancellor Friedrich Merz will visit the German Army in Münster on Thursday, 30 April. To gain an impression of the readiness of the land forces and the Army’s plans, Merz will attend a dynamic demonstration on the grounds of the Panzertruppenschule, inspect vehicles and equipment, and speak with soldiers.
Demonstration of networked operations command for the Chancellor
The Army will operate in a networked manner across all levels in the future. Forces will be deployed more dispersed, led more flexibly, and more strongly supplemented by unmanned systems. With the dynamic demonstration, the Army will show the Chancellor what it needs to do this. Merz will be greeted by the Inspector of the Army, Lieutenant General Christian Freuding. The visit will conclude with a press statement by the Chancellor.
The Panzertruppenschule is responsible for training the leadership cadets of the armored troops and the Army Reconnaissance School in Münster, as well as the Artillery School in Idar-Oberstein, for the training of the leadership successors of the Panzer, Panzergrenadier, Army Reconnaissance and Artillery units. Since 2026, at its Münster site, the Drone Training and Exercise Center has also been established.
