FBI Orders $77 Million Worth of Ammunition From TKG

The American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently ordered a total of ammunition worth $77.4 million (€67.3 million) from the two manufacturers Federal and Remington Ammunition. Both companies are part of The Kinetic Group (TKG), which itself has belonged to the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) since 2024. According to TKG, this is one of the largest government contracts in the group’s history.

The companies were selected, according to a press release issued yesterday, as the sole suppliers of rifle ammunition in four categories: duty, training with reduced lead content, as well as jacketed and unjacketed frangible rounds. Frangible projectiles disintegrate upon impact with hard surfaces to minimize the risk of ricochets and critical structural damage.

Four 5.56 mm Ammunition Types for the FBI

In the duty category, Federal Premium Tactical Bonded 5.56 mm ammunition with a 64-grain bullet (4.15 grams) will be supplied, in the category training with reduced lead content, modified jacketed soft point ammunition with the same bullet weight. In the unjacketed frangible category, Ervin BallistiClean RHT ammunition with a 45-grain projectile (2.92 grams) was selected.

In the jacketed frangible category, Remington provides its lead-free Disintegrator ammunition with a 55-grain projectile (3.56 grams). This combines a core of metal powder, based on technology from HEVI-Shot, a shotgun ammunition manufacturer also belonging to the Kinetic Group, with a Remington jacket.
