On September 30, the Army Aviation at the Celle airfield will show its skills. Beforehand they participated in a NATO certification exercise. Alongside State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defence Nils Hilmer, members of the German Bundestag, the Lower Saxony State Parliament, and numerous high-ranking military representatives from domestic and abroad are expected. The highlight of the demonstration is a flight show with over 35 helicopters.
Among others, the transport helicopter NH90, the light attack helicopter H145M, and the Tiger attack helicopter will be showcased. In doing so, the Army Aviation Corps demonstrates its capabilities and provides insights into the mission, readiness, and interoperability of the units. In the NATO certification exercise Green Falcon 2026, the regiments of the Helicopter Command demonstrated their readiness.
Green Falcon certifies NATO readiness
The command in Bückeburg leads the Army Aviation Corps. It oversees the Transport Helicopter Regiments 10 in Faßberg and 30 in Niederstetten, the Combat Helicopter Regiment 36 in Fritzlar, the International Helicopter Training Center in Bückeburg, the Army Rotorcraft System Center in Donauwörth, and the Control Center of the Army’s Search and Rescue Service (Ground) in Münster.
Germany has pledged helicopter forces to NATO in 2024, among other things, as the so-called Aviation Brigade NATO Force Model 2025-2027 (AvnBde NFM 25-27). This is a maneuver element that bundles helicopter forces of the Army and the Air Force. They are assigned to the Multinational Corps Northeast. As a corps formation of the Multinational Corps Northeast, the Aviation Brigade has been in place since 1 January 2025 with the aim of achieving initial operational capability at the highest NATO readiness level in the formation.
