Rheinmetall Canada marked its 40th anniversary with a ceremonial groundbreaking for the significant expansion of its facility in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in the Canadian province of Quebec. With this investment, the company is massively expanding its industrial and technological capabilities for advanced unmanned ground systems to meet the rapidly growing demand for solutions in the field of land autonomy.
The construction measures call for expanding the production space by 4,830 square meters and increasing storage capacity by 2,230 square meters, thereby creating optimized foundations for manufacturing, integration and maintenance.
Production of Mission Master
and PATH Autonomy Kits
At the heart of the expanded capacities are PATH autonomous technology and the Mission Master family of unmanned ground systems, which have been developed for scalable on-site production with partner feedback. The expansion aligns with the strategic direction under which Rheinmetall alone established three land autonomy competence centers in Canada in 2025 to accelerate local solutions.
The company relies on a tightly interconnected Canadian ecosystem of research, science and industry with partners such as Université de Sherbrooke and Zeal Motor, as well as a supply chain of nearly 1,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in the country. Since 2024, Rheinmetall Canada has invested locally more than 150 million Canadian dollars (equivalent to 94 million euros) in forward-looking technologies and can point to more than 20 successfully implemented programs for the armed forces with an economic total impact of over 1.5 billion Canadian dollars (940 million euros).
