Renk HSWL 076 Gearbox for TRACKX

The Renk Group has received a follow-up order from Patria for the supply of hydrostatic steering and turning-load gear transmissions of the HSWL 076 type for the TRACKX vehicle family, with a contract value of 30 million euros. Earlier this year, Renk had already been commissioned with an initial pre-series delivery. Deliveries under this new, substantially larger contract are to commence in the coming year 2027.

Concurrently, Finland and Sweden initiated the procurement of the first vehicles of this new generation at the end of September, marking an important milestone on the path of the vehicle family into serial production. Michael Masur, CEO Vehicle Mobility Solutions at Renk, emphasized that the platform has been followed since its development and testing, and that the cooperation would now be further deepened to specifically expand the technological potential for manned and unmanned vehicle concepts.

HSWL 076 Transmission for Light Tracked Vehicles

The HSWL 076 transmission was specifically designed for light tracked vehicles in a weight class between 10 and 20 tonnes, and is characterized by a compact design of around 700 kilograms as well as a high power density. In a digitally controlled driveline architecture, the transmission combines central steering, braking and propulsion functions, thereby simultaneously forming the essential technical basis for advanced features such as remote control, platooning and future autonomy.

Based on this technology, Renk and Patria are also advancing the development of capabilities for unmanned ground drones. Already in June, the two companies presented at the Eurosatory trade fair in Paris a joint concept for a heavy unmanned ground vehicle of the next generation, which links the modular TRACKX platform with the HSWL 076 transmission and Renk’s special drive-by-wire mobility architecture. This flexible architecture can be universally applied to manned, optionally unmanned, as well as fully unmanned tracked vehicle programs.
