The defense fair Black Sea Defense & Aerospace (BSDA) will be held from May 13 to 15, 2026 in Bucharest. Under the motto “Freedom needs enablers,” Rheinmetall will once again present a broad spectrum of systems and products from its portfolio of vehicles, weapons and ammunition systems as well as electronic solutions to users, procurement officials and other industry professionals. Among the highlights, according to the Düsseldorf-based company:
Lynx KF41: The infantry fighting vehicle of the new generation from Rheinmetall will be shown with the main weapon MK30-2/ABM and the Weapon Control Station Main Sensor Slaved Armament (MSSA). According to recent reports, Romania intends to procure 298 vehicles of this type as the new infantry fighting vehicle.
Air Defense and Logistics
Air Defense: Mobile, modular and scalable ground-based air defense systems are gaining increasing importance as NATO and European armed forces realign toward national and alliance defense. At BSDA, Rheinmetall will present the 35mm Revolver Gun Mk3 as part of the Oerlikon Skynex air defense system, which can be mounted on various truck platforms.
HX Logistics Vehicle Family: The HX logistics vehicle family from Rheinmetall is characterized by off-road capability, versatility and an optional high level of protection. This enables a wide range of applications, from professional logistics to specialized tactical missions. An HX-3 model will be exhibited at BSDA.
Soldier Systems and Munitions
Soldier Systems: Soldier systems connect individual soldiers through seamless digitalization into networked operations command. Rheinmetall presents the latest generation of its soldier system Gladius 2.0 in various variants.
Ammunition Capabilities: Rheinmetall is expanding its global footprint to strengthen sovereign defense capabilities within NATO and its partner countries. In the field of 155 mm artillery ammunition, Rheinmetall aims to reach an annual production capacity of 1.1 million projectiles by 2027, rising to 1.5 million by 2030. For tank ammunition, a production capacity of 240,000 rounds per year is targeted from 2027.
With New Naval Systems Division, Rheinmetall Becomes a Full-Service Provider
The production of medium-caliber ammunition is to be increased to 3.4 million rounds by 2027 and to 4 million rounds by 2030. Rheinmetall is building an ammunition network with global reach, yet with independent capacities. In this way, the technology company ensures that customers can rely on the group for critical defense requirements in any scenario.
Maritime Systems: With the acquisition of NVL, Rheinmetall is now a full-range provider that covers all areas. The new Marine Systems business unit, under the leadership of NVL B.V. & Co. KG, offers maritime solutions in the field of seagoing shipbuilding. The division comprises four shipyards in northern Germany: Blohm+Voss and Norderwerft in Hamburg, Peene-Werft in Wolgast, and Neue Jadewerft in Wilhelmshaven. The Naval Systems division is responsible for ongoing procurement programs of the German Navy as well as other NATO naval forces.
