Rheinmetall Nordic AS officially opened its new site in Skoppum on October 1, thereby significantly expanding its development and production capacities in Norway. High-ranking representatives from politics, the military, regional authorities, and industry partners from across Europe attended the ceremonial opening. On a floor area of 4,579 square meters, the new building offers state-of-the-art working conditions for up to 127 jobs.
For the site, a long-term lease agreement of 15 years was signed, underscoring the technology group’s sustainable commitment to the region. The expanded site pools important competencies in development, production, system integration, logistics, and customer support, and will facilitate cross-department collaboration in the future. The focus is on advanced defense technologies such as electro-optical systems, fire control systems, innovative situational-awareness solutions, and weapon accessories.
Rheinmetall Nordic Sees an Important Milestone
According to the CEO of Rheinmetall Nordic AS, Morten Kjørum, the investment represents an important milestone for greater innovation, increased value creation, and the long-term strengthening of high-tech competencies within the Norwegian defense industry. By expanding the local infrastructure, the company is responding to the growing demand for defense readiness and resilient supply chains.
In addition to the Norwegian Armed Forces, allied nations and international partners will also benefit from the expanded capacities and the improved support throughout the entire lifecycle of systems. Rheinmetall Nordic AS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rheinmetall AG with more than 70 years of experience, integrates its proven local know-how seamlessly with the global resources of the parent company through this move.
